Korea-Angola Summit

President Yoon and Angola counterpart Joao Lourenco held a meeting on April 30. They discussed on practical cooperation plans and exchanged opinions on local and international situations. The two countries established diplomatic relations in 1992. Inaugurated in 2017, Lourenco has taken Korea's successful development models and experiences as Angola's ways to achieve a success.

The two leaders signed an MOU for TIPF and agreed to cooperate in construction, shipbuilding, chemical and renewable energy, health, tax administration, defence and policing. Yoon expressed gratitude to Lourenco for his active cooperation in implementing sanctions against North Korea. 

 

Korea-Romania Summit

President Yoon and Rumanian counterpart Klaus Werner Johannis hed a meeting on April 23. They discussed on practical cooperation plans and exchanged opinions on local and international situations. They agreed that the strategic partnership between South Korea and Rumania for the last 15 years had deepened cooperation in many fields and they adopted a joint statement to strengthen the partnership. The two leaders praised highly of the record high trade volume between the two countries last year and the summit this time would expand cooperation not only to defence industry but also to education.

South Korea exported Shingoong missile to Rumania last year and Johannis hoped that South Korea would play a role in military modernization of Rumania. South Korea also is in charge of Chernavoda nuclear power plant tritium removal facility construction project and the MOU this time includes cooperation in nuclear power plant, renewable energy, carbon-free energy, port infrastructure, economic security, cyber security, culture and art, human exchange and disaster prevention. The two leaders condemned North Korea's continued provocations and Russia-North Korea military cooperation, and agreed to work closely with the international community to promote North Korea's denuclearization and human rights. They also agreed to strengthen Indo-Pacific and Korea-NATO cooperation and provide humanitarian aid to Ukraine.

 

Yoon promises investment and financial support for core technologies

President Yoon attended Science Technology and Information Communication Day ceremony held at the Gwacheon National Science Museum on April 22. He encouraged scientists and engineers and promised invement and financial support for core technologies. He emphasized that South Korea should be the first mover in science and technology and he would reform the way we support R&D for basic science, innovation and challenge as well as preliminary feasibility study for R&D so that researchers start their study on time. He promised to bring up a 3 future technology promotion strategy for AI semiconductor, advance bio and quantum with which South Korea should be one of the global top 3 in the fields. After the event, Yoon and 10 students of Munwon Middle School in Gwacheon paid a visit to Gwacheon National Science Museum to see Invisible Universe.
