Eggs have been used part of cosmetics for thousands of years. In particular, they are used for caring skin and hair.

The egg oil or egg yolk oil is rich in omega-3 and 6 which are good for caring skin and hair. In traditional folk remedies, they were used for eczema, dermatitis, ringworm, burn, frostbite and hemorrhoids.

As extracting technique advances, they are used not only for skin and hair loss but health supplement. 

JS Beauty recently is attracting attention by releasing Egg Oil Shampoo and CEO Park Hye-jin is eyeing overseas market in addition to domestic market with confidence.

Egg Oil

We can get around 1.0cc to 1.6cc egg oil from 1 egg yolk which weighs about 60g. 

Park says, “According to Dr. Lee Sang-jin’s <The Power of Egg Oil>, it contains lecithin, lioleic acid, omega-3 unsaturated fatty acids such as EPA, DPA, DHA, etc, taurine and tocopherols. Among them, lecithin, a substance of life that helps cell regeneration among foods that exist in nature, is the richest.”

Park stands in the frontier of egg oil research in the nation

Currently living in Germany, Park has run a trading company JS Global since 2011 and has undertaken many a business consulting related to Germany and South Korea. It was 2018 that she was commissioned about egg oil by chance during which she was convinced about its effect on hair loss prevention. After numerous trials and failures, she eventually succeeded commercializing egg oil into products. 

Unlike the existing more than 300C high temperature extraction, JS Beauty uses a supercritical micro extraction in very low temperature and pressure which completely removes tar, minimizes nutrient damages, and increases skin absorption. 

Park explains, “We focused on the optimum extraction process that keeps the nutrients. We also use egg yolk powder from Denmark to be applied in the low temperature and pressure extraction.”

Park exchanges related techniques with Dr. Werner Nawrocki, an authority in this field, for production development. 

She says, “Dr. Nawrocki runs a private clinic and I met him in Frankfurt. He has devoted more than 30 years of his life to research on egg oil and made products such as skin care, burn cure and toothpaste. Looking at his research papers, I became convinced of the effect of egg oil. We are in good cooperative relations and are currently working on expanding product lines.”

 

EO Fortifying Shampoo

JS Beauty applied for a trade mark for EO (Egg Oil) in October 2021 and released its first hair treatment product EO Fortifying Shampoo for both men and women. 

The shampoo obtained a patent for the first in the nation as the egg oil contained shampoo and JS Beauty reported the product to the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety as a functional hair loss product. 

Park explains, “EO Fortifying Shampoo is rich in lecithin that helps regeneration of cells and growth of hair, methionine that helps release toxin, taurine that helps blood circulation, tocopherol that helps anti-aging, and unsaturated fatty acid that helps antioxidant.”

Egg oil, ginger, rosemary and chrysanthemum flower extracts increased absorption and the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety approved el-menthol and dexpanthenol also raised its effect. A small amount can give good enough wash and supply of nutrients. It is a PH 4.3 slightly acidic product which gives minimized scalp irritation. 

Park says, “EO Fortifying Shampoo is made based on research results of the west and we are receiving high number of positive reviews which we feel proud of it.”

 

Exhibitions

JS Beauty listed name in the Gyeonggi Export Support Companies of the KITA in 2022 and was entitled to participate in the World Beauty Export Dubai held October 30. 

Park says, “Buyers in the Middle East knew very well about egg oil and they showed a great interest in our products. We are currently working on export deals with Saudi Arabia, Arab Emirates and India.”

JS Beauty is set to participate in the coming Indonesia K-Beauty EXPO and the Source Direct at ASD Las Vegas. The company also eyes on the Cosmoprof Worldwide Bologna and an exhibition in Hong Kong. 

Promoting Korean beauty industry

Park passed National Examination for Customized Cosmetics Dispensing Manager in September 2022. Since then on, she has made contribution to development of cosmetics industry and to promoting it worldwide. 

She says, “JS Beauty has developed body wash and mist products while patented skin care products are ready to be released. We will keep carrying on our R&D.”
