KOTRA Holds Korea Goods Fair in Bangkok to expand ASEAN exports

KOTRA (President Jeongyeol Yoo) held the ‘2023 Bangkok Korea Excellent Product Exhibition’ in Bangkok, Thailand for two days from March 28 to support Korean companies to enter export strategic markets. This year, in order to expand to ASEAN, one of the three major markets for our exports, and further to the Southwest Asian market, the exhibition was held in Bangkok. At this event, the Global Partnering Asia Pavilion and the K-Consumer Pavilion were operated together to target local consumption trends in ASEAN. At the GP Asia Pavilion seminar, PTT (Thailand Petroleum Corporation) Vice President, SCG (Siam Cement Group) Vice President and EVAT (Electric Vehicle Association of Thailand) Chairman presented ‘Thailand’s Green EPC Project’ and ‘Thailand’s Electric Vehicle Market Roadmap’.

At the K-Consumer Hall, a product showcase of promising companies in the K-beauty, food, and living fields, which have grown into promising export industries, was held for large retail buyers in ASEAN. Large distribution network companies such as CP All, the distribution affiliate of CP Group, the No. 1 business company in Thailand, Central Group, the No. 1 department store distributor, and Big C, a large supermarket chain in Southeast Asia, participated in the exhibition.

President Jeongyeol Yoo said, “The ASEAN region is our third major export market, and Thailand, in particular, has a positive economic outlook this year. Through this exhibition in Bangkok, we will actively support our companies to draw export.”

KOTRA, Busan Port Authority, and Busan-Jinhae Free Economic Zone Authority co-hosted ‘Global Logistics Company Investment Attraction Meeting’

KOTRA, Busan Port Authority, and Busan-Jinhae Free Economic Zone Authority co-hosted ‘Global Logistics Company Investment Attraction Meeting’ on March 23. In response to the rapidly changing global logistics industry trends after COVID-19, the meeting was held to discuss Korea’s position as a logistics hub in Northeast Asia and investment opportunities in the future.

Nine companies attended the meeting, including Denmark’s AP Moller-Maersk, the world’s largest shipping company, Germany’s DHL Supply Chain, DB Schenker, and Japan’s Nippon Logistics, a global logistics company.

Busan Port has the world’s seventh-largest container cargo handling capacity among the existing North and New ports, and the world’s second-largest port infrastructure in terms of transshipment.

In the case of Busan New Port, it has competitiveness with advanced facilities and automation systems, and the water depth is 17-23m, making it a natural environment where very large ships can dock. The port has 26 berths as of this year and plans to expand to 60 berths by 2040. At this meeting, global logistics companies showed interest in bidding this year in the first phase of the container hinterland on the west side of Busan New Port and the second phase of the Ungdong hinterland site. KOTRA also asked the heads of Korean offices of global logistics companies a support for 2030 Busan Expo.
