The number of people anxious over hair loss is increasing year by year. In the past, it was an exclusive property of the old. But today, it has come down to the young men and women alike. Related products and services are flooding out from shampoos to SMP (Scalp Micropigmentation) which is rising fast as a good alternative. 

SMP started in the UK in 2002. It uses fine needles to inject pigment into the scalp to look like there are hairs. It was widely practiced in the US and Europe from 2019 and Korean’s interest has increased notably recently.

D-Black Academy, Yangsan branch, Director Lindo followed her dream to be a SMP specialist. She majored in art and used to run an art academy. Then her dormant dream of becoming a tattooist when she was a little girl started to wake up. By chance, she met D.CHRIS, the director of the D-Black Academy, and jumped into SMP. D.CHRIS is a first generation SMP spreader in the nation. He made his new technique called ASMP(Art-SMP) by combining 2D SMP with 3D that expresses even the shaft of hair. He received great attention overseas with this technique and he demonstrated it at the 2021 SMP EXPO with unveiling the D-Black’s innovative Double X Machine and D-Scalp Care. He was invited to the U.S. ISPMU to give a lecture on SMP in October last year followed by the Convention Beauty Expo in Palm Beach County, Florida. The Yangsan branch director Lindo says “Our excellence comes from satisfying our clients over just darking the scalp. Also, our customized care has played a great role for us to grow as far as this. Pre-scalp care is very important for SMP. The cleaner the scalp, the better the result.” The Yangsan branch, for this reason, gives special attention to shampoo, lymphatic gland massage, and MITS scaling for maximum effect.

Lindo learned skills from D.CHRIS and opened a branch of the academy in Yangsan. She also is serving as the brach head of the SMP Korea Busan and the head of the Jaayeon International Industry Development Association Yangsan. 

When asked what made her this much success, she singled out her art major. Both SMP and ASMP require high level of skill. She says “The dark part should come out as dark and vice versa. If not, the result looks like as if you are wearing a knight’s helmet.” Lindo not only knows about art but also sculpture not to mention tattoo at the level that she can give lectures as well as training. 

The SMP shave course at the Yangsan academy runs on a 5 hour basic a day for two times and 5 demonstration sessions. Mannequin is used for practice that covers a variety of areas such as filming, shaving, design, hairline, whisker trimming, and shaft and balance works. In particular, the Duble X Machine gives excellent results in semi-permanent tattoo on eyebrows. Lindo also is the director of the JEDO TATTO ACADEMY. With the shaving course, the head of the JEDO who boasts a national barber license provides practical skills on hair trimmer clipper and T-cut.
