Art spaces such as galleries and cultural centers probably are one of those most affected by the pandemic. Many of them were struggling to find a way to contact the public and online exhibition has emerged as a good alternative. CICA Press especially is making a strong presence in this.

A unique cultural space melted with 25 years of endeavor

CICA Museum where art and culture are exchanged

Used to be the studio of Czong Ho Kim, the CICA (Czong Institute for Contemporary Art) renewed it and opened in 1994 as a cultural space.

The CICA Museum’s 5 separate areas are an extension of the works of Kim and it has gone through redesigning since 1994. From the slopes, roofs and walls to stairs and facade are designed moderate by Kim. Here and there in the garden are also the works of him. An official of the museum says “The space is melted with hard work of Kim and team members. I hope you come and feel its philosophy, style and history.”

Leejin Kim, CEO of CICA Press and Art Director of CICA Museum, is currently working on new media art and a visual culture research. Under the direction of CEO Kim, the staff members of the museum run various projects in cooperation with around 5,000 artists worldwide through exhibitions and publications including the new media art, art yellow book and artist statement from 2014. In line with these projects, the CICA NMAC has been held yearly since 2017 in collaboration with Gimpo in 2017, Anyang branch of the Federation of Artistic & Cultural Organization of Korea in 2018, and Seoul National University in 2019. Also in 2019 and 2020, the Art Teleported show and conference were held for nomad artists in New York.

Spreading young art and culture

CICA Press bridges artists and public through cultural projects

CICA Press is a medium that delivers current art and culture on a young creator’s point of view. But the young is not confined to age. CEO Kim explains “Regardless age, those who have creative and challenging ideas and implementation power are the young. We believe that their desire to express this will change the world.” For this reason, CICA Press finds artists in all corners of the world to be known to more people. Kim says “We hope that people observe life, taste life and see things critically and creatively through our projects.” It is noteworthy that CICA Press runs CICA Kids Lab for children to grow with balanced thinking in art and science through the educational methods used in universities in the US.
