Samsung Electronics signs multiple business agreements

Samsung Electronics announced that it signed multiple business agreements with Envirionment Ministry, K water, Korea Environment Corporation and 5 cities to recycle sewage treatment water. With the expansion of facility lines, the amount of industrial water required for Samsung Electronics' semiconductor plant is expected to more than double around 2030. Under this agreement, discharged water from public sewage treatment plants in Suwon, Yongin, Hwaseong, and Osan will be treated to the level of industrial water required by semiconductor plants, and supplied to Samsung Electronics' Giheung, Hwaseong, and Pyeongtaek plants. The effluent supplied to each business site will be made into ultrapure water through an additional process and used for semiconductor production. The amount of water that Samsung Electronics can receive is expected to reach about 474,000 tons per day and 173 million tons per year. This is expected to contribute to solving the national water shortage problem by reusing effluent from public sewage treatment plants without additionally taking necessary industrial water from nature.
