Hyundai Motor Company begins operation of mobile hydrogen charging station in Seoul
On October 27, Hyundai Motors held an opening ceremony for the ‘Mobile Hydrogen Charging Station H Gwangjin Moving Station’ in Junggok-dong, Gwangjin-gu, Seoul. In this service, ﹦Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport supports special cases for self-certification of hydrogen-charged vehicles ﹦Ministry of Environment supports hydrogen infrastructure construction licensing and permission ﹦Ministry of Industry supports hydrogen industry policy ﹦Seoul City and Gwangjin-gu support local governments ﹦Korea Gas Safety Corporation is responsible for verifying the safety of hydrogen charging stations. In addition, ﹦Hyundai Motor is in charge of planning, investment, and design of mobile hydrogen charging stations, ﹦Hyundai Globis is responsible for supplying and operating hydrogen charging stations, ﹦Hyundai Rotem is responsible for manufacturing and managing hydrogen charging stations, and ﹦Hyundai Oilbank is responsible for providing the site for charging stations. Mobile hydrogen refueling stations can be used by reservation through myHyundai, Hyundai Motor Company’s vehicle management application. The mobile hydrogen refueling station serves as a perfect hydrogen refueling station by installing all of the key facilities such as a hydrogen compressor, storage container, cooler and charger on Hyundai Motor’s 25-ton large truck ‘Xcient’. Based on the hydrogen electric vehicle ‘Nexo’, it supports hydrogen charging of up to 2.5 kg per unit, and up to 50 units per day can be charged (for charging efficiency, the maximum charging rate per unit is limited to 50%). In 2024, an advanced high-pressure mobile hydrogen charging station will be introduced to respond to the charging demand in areas with insufficient charging infrastructure in urban areas.
Hyundai Motor’s Xient hydrogen electric truck, accumulated mileage exceeds 5 million km
Hyundai Motor Company announced that its XCIENT Fuel Cell has surpassed the total accumulated distance of 5 million km in Switzerland. This was achieved two years after the Xient hydrogen-electric truck started operating on Swiss roads in October 2020, and it is the world’s first and only case where a mass-produced large-scale hydrogen-powered truck exceeded the cumulative mileage of 5 million km. The Xient Hydrogen Electric Truck is the world’s first mass-produced hydrogen electric truck by Hyundai Motor Company, and a total of 47 units have been exported to 23 Swiss companies from 2020 to the present. Since its first operation, it has been contributing to the establishment of an eco-friendly hydrogen value chain in Europe by using only ‘green hydrogen’ produced without carbon dioxide emissions as fuel. Hyundai Motor Company has decided to supply 27 trucks to 7 companies in connection with the German Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport (BMDV) subsidy support project for eco-friendly commercial vehicles.
