Samsung, Ministry of SMEs and Startups, and KBIZ Korea Federation of SMEs hold 2022 Win-Win Smart Factory Kick Off
Samsung Electronics, Ministry of SMEs and Startups, and KBIZ Korea Federation of SMEs hold 2022 Win-Win Smart Factory Kick Off on September 2 at Samsung Electronics Gwangju Campus. 300 officials participated. The event is designed to provide an opportunity for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to start building a smart factory to directly see, experience, and benchmark Samsung Electronics' manufacturing sites, and to share examples of excellent smart factory companies and strengthen their will to innovate. Representatives of SMEs toured production lines such as air conditioners, refrigerators, and compressors at Samsung Electronics’ Gwangju campus, which produces home appliances on the same day alongside observing operation of production systems using AI, automation facilities, improving logistics such as electric transport vehicles, and simple automation for each process. Lee Sang-hoon, head of Samsung Electronics' ESG & Smart Factory Support Center, explained how to build a customized smart factory in consideration of individual circumstances such as industry and size for each SME in a special lecture given under the theme of 'Small and Medium Business Smart Factory Construction Guide'. Lee also shared knowhow of promoting an 'intelligent factory' in which an AI-linked system predicts information on the entire process from raw material warehousing to production, inspection, packaging, and shipment through big data analysis to control the production process in real time. Jo Joo-hyeon, Vice Minister of SMEs and Startups, said, “The manufacturing know-how of large companies such as Samsung Electronics and the efforts for win-win cooperation between large and small businesses were able to advance manufacturing innovation of SMEs one step further. We hope that it will spread widely.” In-yong Lee, president of Samsung Electronics, said, “Samsung will continue to strive to create a robust industrial ecosystem where large corporations and SMEs can grow together through comprehensive and systematic support.”
Samsung Electronics promotes Expo 2030 Busan at IFA 2022
Samsung Electronics promoted the Expo 2030 Busan at the IFA 2022 held from 2 to 6 September in Berlin, Germany by using most of the company's exhibition hall of City Cube Berlin in Messe Berlin. In the Samsung Electronics IFA exhibition hall, a promotional video for the Expo 2020 Busan was screened using a large 17-meter-wide screen in the center and various LED screens in the exhibition hall. Also at the entrance of the exhibition hall, a promotional guide for the bid committee was distributed to visitors, informing them of the bid for Expo Busan. Samsung Electronics included the emblem of the Expo 2030 Busan in its large outdoor advertisement for its products installed in the city center of Berlin, and it was a promotional video for the Expo in major traffic routes such as Samsung stores at Kadewe Department Store, pop-up stores on Kudam Street, a representative shopping street, and Berlin Airport.
