Artist Baek Jong-im presents ‘Dragon’s Dream’ series at Kiaf

Feeling the mystery and strong energy

At Kiaf Seoul, the work of Western artist Baek Jong-im was unique. She has won the grand prize at the Korea Art Competition and Mokwoo International Art Festival, which are representative contests of Korean art groups. She is an artist who paints a story that harmonizes with her own pictorial formative language with bright and warm colors made of oil or acrylic on oil canvas.

She is also an artist who crosses the boundaries between figurative and non-figurative work, and at Kiaf this time, she presented a series of ‘Dragon’s Dream’, a non-figurative painting work. The ‘Dragon’s Dream’ series consists of pictures that make you feel mystical and strong energy. For some, these paintings remind us of how the life of an organism communicates with each other in various forms, as if it were a spring of water or the beginning of the creation of the universe. For others, they open their own imaginary dreams and enjoy the wonders of the cosmic Big Bang in the shape of flying and soaring somewhere. She has exhibited at various international art events and has won the California Governor Award in 2016 and the Obama Award in 2017.
