KOTRA Collaborates with Lotte Group to Hold ‘2022 Korean Brand Expo’ in Berlin

KOTRA (President Yoo Jeong-yeol), together with Lotte Group (Chairman Shin Dong-bin), and the Foundation for Cooperation in Agriculture, Small and Medium Enterprises and Agriculture and Fisheries (Director General Oh Young-kyo), held the ‘2022 Korea Brand Expo’ for two days from September 5th to 6th to help our small and medium-sized consumer electronics companies develop their way into Europe. The event was held at the Messe Exhibition Hall in Berlin in conjunction with the IFA Berlin 2022, one of the top 3 consumer electronics fairs in the world, and the B2B export consultation meeting and the promotion at the exhibition site were carried out at the same time.

The European consumer electronics market is particularly high in demand for premium home appliances that apply ICT new technologies such as smart homes, and the growth rate is expected to be 27.1% during the periods 2019-2025. This is more than 6 times the growth rate of the entire European consumer electronics market over the same period.

In line with this market trend, at the Brand Expo, 50 small and medium-sized enterprises of premium consumer electronics in Korea exhibited their products and conducted more than 180 on-site consultations with buyers. In particular, as the energy crisis in Europe intensified in the aftermath of the Ukrainian War, buyers’ interest in energy-saving products such as direct crystal water machines using thermal conduction modules was high.

German Richter Purchasing Director said, “It was significant to learn that in addition to Samsung and LG, there are many premium consumer electronics companies in Korea that have excellent technology, and we will continue to expand our business cooperation in the future.”

After the on-site consultation that took place until September 6, KOTRA will conduct an online export consultation using the Brand Expo homepage and KOTRA’s online B2B e-commerce platform ‘buyKOREA’ special exhibition hall until the end of September to maximize the export performance of the participating companies.

“In addition to premium consumer electronics, Europe is a leading market for global consumer goods trends such as eco-friendly, vegan, and ethical management,” said Ahn Sung-joon, Director of Consumer Goods Bio, KOTRA, adding that “KOTRA will continue to closely monitor European market trends and proactively support the export of consumer goods to our SMEs.”

Meanwhile, during the event, which was held in Germany, the mecca of the European exhibition industry, the activities to attract the “Busan World Expo 2030” were also carried out. Promotional materials distribution and promotional videos were screened within the pavilion, attracting the attention of visitors to the exhibition and major companies from Germany and around the world.
