Ministry of Economy and Finance and National Assembly Future Institute hold 4th Future Strategy Conference under the theme Competition, Cooperation and Innovation. Beginning with the opening ceremony of the 1st Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of Planning and Finance of Bang Ki-sun, the welcoming remarks followed by National Assembly Future Institute Director Kim Hyun-gon and Acting Director of KDI Ko Yong-sun and the congratulations of National Assembly Chairman Kim Jin-pyo. 

In his opening remarks, Bang noted that the global economy is facing an unprecedented complex economic crisis situation of low growth and high prices, globalization is retreating amid the era of regional bloc economy is coming. 

He pointed out securing technological sovereignty was intensifying, and carbon neutrality was emerging as an economic and trade issue; and in order to respond to this reorganization of the economic order, we will proactively respond to the transformation of the economic structure following the promotion of carbon neutrality while transforming the center of economic operation into private and corporate enterprises to enhance economic vitality, strategically respond to the reorganization of the global supply chain, create a foundation for the development of new growth engine technologies and industries.  

A total of 4 sessions have been held, including presentations, discussions, and comprehensive discussions on the competition for technological hegemony (Session 1), the innovation ecosystem (Session 2), and carbon neutrality (Session 3). 

In Session 1, they took the time to diagnose the advent of the era of technological hegemony competition and Korea's response strategy. In Session 2, they discussed ways to strengthen the East Asian innovation ecosystem and collaborate. Session 3, they discussed ways to work together in the industrial and technological sectors to achieve carbon neutrality.

Second Vice Minister Choi Sang-dae checks commodity price for Thanksgiving. On 31 August, the 2nd Vice Minister visited the land street market, a representative traditional market in Chungbuk Province, to purchase ritual goods in person and to check the status of the execution of the discount coupon for concentrated aquatic products for Chuseok, Korea Thanksgiving. He then visited Maria's home at the Chungbuk Rehabilitation Center, delivered items and souvenirs purchased at the market, and held a meeting with rehabilitation workers and people with disabilities in the hospital.

The meeting is designed to explain the purpose and content of the 2023 Budget for the Assistance of Persons with Disabilities budget, which was announced on August 30, and to solicit on-the-spot input and incorporate it into the future parliamentary debate and implementation process.

Choi first stopped at the Cheongju Land Market to purchase major ritual goods such as fruit and meat using the discount coupon for concentrated aquatic products and the Onnuri gift voucher, and checked the practice of the discount competition for concentrated aquatic products. 

He mentioned that in order to support the stabilization of commodity prices, the size of discount coupons for concentrated aquatic products has been more than doubled (59 billion won ⊥1,69 billion won, based on the main budget) in next year's budget, and he said that he will work with the relevant ministries to expand merchants and strengthen publicity so that discount coupons can be used more conveniently in the traditional market. 

He visited Maria's home at the Chungbuk Rehabilitation Center, where he listened to the various difficulties of rehabilitation workers and people with disabilities in the hospital, and discussed ways to provide support.

Attendees noted that developmental disabilities are likely to cause family breakdown due to depression and illness and Choi shared the need for support for families with developmental disabilities, and explained the projects in next year's budget, including improving family relationships with developmentally disabled people, counseling and educating parents for psychological and emotional support, and expanding family rest support personnel. 

He called for the close cooperation of the relevant ministries and municipalities to ensure that the government's policy efforts to support persons with disabilities are felt on the ground, while promising to continue on-site communication efforts with policy beneficiaries.
