Economy and Finance Minister Kyungho Choo held ROK-US Financial Minister's Meeting on July 19 with his U.S. counterpart Janet Yellen. The two ministers voiced together for expansion and advancement of cooperative relations in line with the Global Comprehensive Strategic Alliance agreed between Biden and Yoon last May at the summit. They also exchanged opinions on global and Korean economy, foreign currency market, climate change and war between Russia and Ukraine. The two ministers shared the same views on the need for strengthened economic cooperation between the two countries in this time of soaring commodity price and supply crisis. Choo said that the Korean economy was continuing the recovery flow through economic fundamentals and effective policies and the government would provide stimulation while ease on regulations and taxes to contribute to recovery of global economy.
Choi visits Wooyeonmot
Economy and Finance Vice Minister Sangdae Choi paid a visit to Wooyeonmot, a tea house in Jeju as part of listening to local startups. Wooyeonmot opened the business in 2019 and was chosen for Local Creator by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups in 2020. Choi encouraged the owner of the tea house and said that more than 70% of Local Creator were in their 20s and 30s and Jeju had the most in number of winners. Local Creator was launched in 2020 in order to promote startups with creative ideas and unique business plans through financial support and necessary programs. <PowerKorea>
