Korea's ondol, floor heating, goes back as far as 1st century. This 2,000 year old tradition is still practiced even in tech-driven luxury apartments in South Korea. The problem however is the floor heating does not go well with cement apartments that cause skin troubles due to the toxic substances it contains. The weight and height also are problematic. To improve these drawbacks, CU Reverse CEO Mansu Jeong who has 40 years of experience in the field introduced innovative eco-friendly, cost-saving and install hassle-free drying floor heating that does not use cement at all.

Drying Floor Heating
Drying floor heating is as closer to the traditional Korean ondol. According to Jeong, ondol helps our body release waste, stimulate blood circulation, improve mental exercise ability and ease tension. Drying floor heating uses eco-friendly high board that is cement-free and has good level of solidity and durability. The high board can be lightened and is strong against heat and shock. You do not need to remove floor to install these high boards as you can assemble on the spot in a day. The weight is 5 to 10 times lighter than the existing cement method and it is cheaper and labor saving. If the wet-type floor heating takes 30mins to 1 hour to fully heat up the floor, the high boards take only around 5 to 10mins to do that and it also saves around 35% heating bill.

"Cement contains harmful substances such as formaldehyde, naphthalene and acrylamide that are known to cause various skin troubles including atopy. Cement-free drying floor heating on the other hand emits onion that can help purify blood, heals cells and remove moisture, mold and insects on the floor. It also can help ease symptoms of stroke, neuralgia, insomnia, high blood pressure and fatigue caused by harmful earth radiation" says Jeong.

Drawbacks of cement are many. One of the them is noise between the floors. We often see the news about quarrels over the noise among residents living apartments up and down. Cement in fact is a substance that helps deliver the sound better. The high board used for drying floor heating on the other hand disperses the sound within the gaps in the middle of the boards. A test showed that the high boards reduced the noise to 39dB from 58dB to 70dB of cement.

"Once installed, drying floor heating can last semi-permanently. It has passed a test carried out by the Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs" emphasizes Jeong.
