He said that he felt emotional to give a speech at the newly built memorial hall that marked the 103rd anniversary of the movement.

"For the last five years, we have found 2,243 independence patriots and rewarded them for their patriotic deeds alongside bringing the remains of Pongwoo Gae, Unjeong Hwang and General Bumdo Hong" said him.

Moon emphasized that Japan must see and admit what their ancestors did in the past and be humble when facing the history adding that Japan must move on from the past for the good of now through open dialogue and cooperation.

On the day, 219 independence patriots received rewards including presidential citation and independence medal. South Korean figure skater Junhwan Cha recited the Pledge of Allegiance and jazz trumpeter Dageong Gwak and cellist Jinho Hong played a piece of anti-Japanese music. Also shined the stage were singer Yumi Shin, Mad Clown and Heritage Choir.

Moon visits Gunsan Shipyard

President Moon paid a visit to Gunsan Shipyard of Hyundai Heavy Industries February 24 and congratulated re-opening of the shipyard. The shipyard was closed July 2017 and the government has worked together with Hyundai Heavy Industries, North Jeolla Province and Gunsan City to restart the operation from January 2023.

"We expect the shipyard will generate 2 trillion won ($1.6 billion) worth production and it will boost our global competency in eco-friendly ships such as LNG and LPG carriers. Apart from shipyard, Gunsan is fast rising as a hub of electric vehicles and 17,00 employees are working together to achieve the goal of 110,000 EVs a year" says Moon in his speech on the day.

Moon promised to provide necessary support for technology needed for designing, drying, repairing and remodeling alongside support for finance, marketing and logistics. He also promised to extend 'industry crisis response special zone' which ends next month so that the shipyard will lead a boost of regional economy. The government has used 3 trillion won to activate regional economy in Gunsan and around covering not only EV and shipbuilding but also harbor, wind power and leisure.

Attended on the day were high officials of Hyundai Heavy Industries, North Jeolla Province, Gunsan City, Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, and Ministry of Employment and Labor. <PowerKorea>
