4-H is a U.S.-based network of youth organizations whose mission is engaging youth to reach their fullest potential while advancing the field of youth development. 4-H targets to promote good values in agriculture, environment and life and to foster young people aged between 19 and 29 to grow as leaders of the future agriculture. 

"4-H Sancheong County aims to promote four Hs which are Head, Heart, Hands and Health. We endeavor to grow talented young future agriculture experts and our 82 members are currently proactively engaging in various activities" says Seungchang Yang, Head of 4-H Sancheong.

In order to promote activities of 4-H, people up to 45 can be un-official members of 4-H Sancheong according to Yang. Being recognized for proactive engagement, 4-H Sancheong received an excellence prize from 4-H Sough Gyeongsang Province in 2020. 

Also serving as the president of the Sancheong Barley Beef Farming Association Corporation, Yang launched Cookfarm to sell 500g grain packs of brown rice, stick barley, sticky rice and black rice. Back then, 2 to 3kg gram packs were minimum to be found on the market and Yang's move, therefore, was innovative. It proved to be a great success and Yang currently is building a rice mill to meet the surging amount of orders. 

Alongside 4-H and grain businesses, Yang is using drones to control disease and insect pest. According to him, drones can save labor, cost and amount of pesticides by 2/3. 

In fact, Yang adds, drones are not only used to control disease and insect pest but also for scattering seeds, gardening and golf course hygiene. 

"The local government covers cost of using drones 100% for cost effectiveness and for the reason that it is the future of agriculture. 4-H Sancheong is determined to bring forth the future of agriculture in South Korea and we will keep working hard to open a new world" says Yang. <PowerKorea>
