President Moon met Abdel Fattah AI-Sisi, President of Egypt, on January 20 and exchanges opinions on futuristic and sustainable cooperation and regionals issues around Korea and the Middle East alongside global issues. 

They praised cooperation made since the comprehensive cooperative partnership in 2016 and agreed to expand volumes of trade and investment. 

Moon hoped the MOU on trade and economy partnership research between the two countries would lead to FTA, and AI Sisi encouraged Korean company's investment in Egypt that was located on the entrance to Africa. 

Moon wished a success of the Egypt Vision 2030 and promised a support for Korean companies to participate in laying roads and railways and building water resources and petrol chemical plants in Egypt. He also promised a support for cooperation on electric vehicles, hydrogen trams and LNG projects and asked AI Sisi an interest and support. 

AI Sisi said that Egypt welcomed Korean companies and encouraged cooperation in technology, communications, shipbuilding, mobility and education. 

Also discussed on the day was Egypt buying Korean K-9 self-propelled guns which they agreed that the weapon would contribute to raised military power of Egypt. 

AI Sisi showed his gratitude for South Korea's $1 billion EDCF (Economic Development Cooperation Fund) for next 5 years (2022 to 2026) and asked expanded cooperation to aerospace, ocean, defense, cultural asset and people to people exchange. 

Korea-Saudi Arabia Summit

President Moon met Mohammad Bin Salman AI Saud, the crown prince of Saudi Arabia, on January 18 and exchanged opinions on fields for cooperation. 

Moon said that since the Korea-Saudi Vision 2030 Committee in 2017 the two countries had been working on energy, smart infrastructure, digital, health and SME, and suggested expanding the field of cooperation to hydrogen energy, nuclear power, defense, intellectual property and medicine. 

Mohammad said that the two countries had 60 years of firm relations and praised excellence of the Korean companies that built airports and railways in Saudi Arabia. 

Moon wished a good harvest from ongoing defense articles import and emphasized that Korea not only exported articles but transferred related technologies so that manufacturing could be localized. 

Mohammad emphasized importance of defense cooperation and South Korea would be a good partner for localizing the defense technologies by 2030. 

Moon asked Mohammad a support for Korean companies to participate in building carbon-zero city Neom as Korean companies boasted excellence in AI, big data and cutting edge technologies. 

Mohammad said that the fields for cooperation between the two countries were limitless and emphasized that Saudi Arabia was rich in solar and renewal energy resources and rare earth element, and hoped strengthened cooperation with Korean companies. 

Moon said that South Korea had the world's best nuclear plant technologies in terms of economy and safety and they would be the best partners for Saudi's nuclear projects. <PowerKorea>
