A report shows that around 5,000 people lose body parts a year due to accidents in the nation. Most of them depend on prosthetics to lead a life as before. The problem is that they are normally very expensive and it is hard to find the right one that suits one's body perfectly. Also, they need to be changed once every few years. The prosthetics market in South Korea is largely shared by American OSSUR and German OTTOBOCK. In other words, no Korean prosthetics company have challenged them yet and it is one of the reasons of the expensive price and of no customization.

[Multi Axial Type Artificial Knee Joint]
Boil Kim, CEO of Boil Labs, has 42 years of expertise in the field. Obtaining advanced making techniques from the US, Germany, Taiwan and Sweden, he has engaged in making more than 10,000 artificial body parts. On succeeding development of three core parts for an artificial leg, he opened Boil Labs in September 2020. The three core parts are for joint, foot and socket adopter. The multi-axial type artificial knee joint is received as a new level of safety and convenience from industry experts. If the existing artificial legs are designed and performed based on walking on flat ground, the multi-axial type artificial knee joint-loaded leg (patent no.10-1897459) helps the person to balance even on a slope or stairs: the stance phase and swing phase adjust every step of the walk level by level to prevent the knee joint from snaps. The person wearing this artificial leg can walk with 100% confidence without a safety worry according to an expert of the company.

[Three Rows Artificial Foot]
The three rows artificial foot (patent no.2021-0085177) comes with two rows outer pole. The three rows inner pole deals with more contractions than the two rows outer pole making change of direction easier and preventing the person falling towards outer direction. The X type structure located in the first and second rows on the sole also function as a joint to keep the balance of the body.

[Socket Adopter]
The socket adopter (patent no.10-2176218) is designed to receive various walking patterns by adjusting up to 10mm without a hassle by rotating 360 degrees from the central angle.

[Competitive Price]
Despite these excellent performances, the price of Boil Labs artificial legs is 1/5 of the imported. With proven performances and technological confidence, CEO Kim and his team are ambitious to pioneer overseas markets starting from South East Asia, Africa and East Europe. Kim once engaged in the Libyan government's artificial legs support project in 2012 through which he also engaged in various related projects and technology transfer in the country.

"It is regretful that prosthetics major students from 6 university in South Korea have nowhere to go after graduation. South Korea is left far behind of US, Germany, Taiwan and Sweden in the field and I urge government to provide necessary support to secure original technologies and to localize the industry" points out Kim. <PowerKorea>
