The Suklim Art Center held the 1st Korea Modern Art Festa 2021 at the Central Temple of Cheondogyo from 22 to 27 December 2021.

"Artists are one of the most affected groups of the people in our society by the pandemic. The social distancing and non-contact business practices are driving them with no space to display their works. The 1st Korea Modern Art Festa 2021 was held in a way to provide artists a space to display their works while people also can visit to appreciate the works in this difficult time" said Sim Sung-gyu, Curator of Suklim Art Center, the organizing body of the festa. Attending the festa included Jongno District Council Chairman Bongmu Yeo, KMAF committee members Meongsook Kang and Sungho Jo, critics Jeonggeun Kim, Jinsup Yoon, and Hangsup Shin the head of judge. 150 works regardless genres were submitted of which 61 works were listed for prizes. The judge said it was remarkable that 150 works were submitted in such a short period of time and there must be something about this festa that attracted their attention. The grand prize went to Seoi Park with the work <Each World>. The judge explained the work was complicated in structure but had vivid contrast between blue, green and red which created a harmony and the storytelling of the different colors in union was impressive and imaginative. The Suklim Art Center listed Park its inviting artist with an opportunity to participate in the coming invitational exhibition of the Korea Professional Artists Association. Other winners included Bokeong Kim, Jeonghee See, Junyoung Choi, Gyunam Lee and Jaewon Lee. Suklim Art Center Curator Sim Sung-gyu is a member of the Korean Fine Arts Association and the Korean Sculptors Association. He won the runner-up prize at the 34th Grand Art Exhibition of Korea in 2015. <PowerKorea>
