With increasing number of people living alone, the housing developers are turning its course to smaller houses to answer the demand from this rising market. The sales of the houses less than 61 square meters jumped to 50.2% from 43.4% while the houses bigger than 61 square meters decreased to 49.8% from 56.6%, a report shows. However, living alone does not necessarily mean he/she has less stuff. Seeing the need of this, businessmen with keen eye are moving fast.

[Spare Space]
Spare Space is a company providing storage spaces. To use the services, you can visit the website on PC or download the app on your smartphone. It works this way: Spare Space sends you boxes, you pack the stuff in them and send them back to Spare Space. Then the expert teams at Spare Space separate your stuff according to its category with labels on it and take photos and send them to you to make sure your stuff are taken care of. A box sized 60cm x 45cm x 35cm for one month costs you 9,000 won ($7.48). You can get a 40% discount when kept for a long period.

"If existing storage services providers were focusing on securing containers, we are focusing on taking care of our customer's stuff with attention to detail, not to mention the cleanliness, ventilation, hygiene and security of the storages" says CEO Gyugyeong Jeong.

The temperature of storages are set to 22 to 24¡É in summer and 15-18¡É in winter. In addition, CESCO comes and does quarantine on a regular basis while ADT manages security of the premises with CCTV. In case of fire, stolen or broken on neglect of the management, the company compensate 500,000 won ($415) per box.

"70% of our 363 square meter storages have been filled at the moment. We expect to secure around 30,000 to 50,000 regular customers this year and we will expand storages nationwide to meet the increasing demand." <PowerKorea>
