KOTRA promotes Korean cosmetics in Spain

South Korean cosmetics recently experienced a 49% sales increase in Spain harvesting $14 million as of October 2021 based MTI2273. Taking the advantage, KOTRA (Korea Trade Investment Promotion Agency) held Corea en Madrid on Plaza de Callao from 16 to 19 December selling Korean cosmetics, inviting industry influencers and supporting O2O deals. The K-Beauty hall displayed 450 cosmetic products from 54 Korean cosmetics companies. Also displayed were portable sanitizers, smartphone earphones and daily necessities. 

Miguel Angel, CEO of Tradegate, who attended the event remarked "I came here and saw with my own eyes that Korean cosmetics and goods are truly creating a heat wave. I'm convinced that we need to expand our K-Beauty product lines."

Silvia Moreno, CEO of Silvys Professional, said "I have to say that the K-Beauty event this time plays a great role to boost stagnated economy by the pandemic and I'm determined to promote South Korean cosmetics by taking the momentum."

KOTRA Europe division head Kilbum Lee said "I see K-Beauty is creating a sensation in the European market despite the pandemic and we will keep working hard to effectively promote excellent Korean products."

KOTRA holds Thailand-Korea Smart City Day 

KOTRA and Thai Digital Economy Promotion Agency co-held Thailand-Korea Smart City Day in Bangkok for 2 days from December 14 local time. Attended on the day were Thai Deputy Minister of Digital Economy and Society Wetang Phuangsup and Thai Digital Economy Promotion Agency Deputy Director Passakon Prathombutr on the Thai side and South Korean Ambassador in Bangkok Wukhun Lee on the Korean side and 200 high officials of participated companies. The key events taken place on the day were seminar on smart city cooperation, online trade deals, signing MOUs, and running a South Korean smart city promotion hall. Government officials and companies from Chiang Mai, Phuket and Khon Kaen gave presentations on mobility, security and energy in the seminar and they asked interest and cooperation of South Korean government and companies. Thai government is pushing forward creating 100 smart cities by the end of 2022 and local governments are moving fast to secure necessary budget by submitting detailed plans and around 50 are seeking partners home and abroad. 

KOTRA Chairman Jeongyeol Yoo said "Thailand 4.0 is a national project to promote future industries and startups and we will help South Korean companies form partnership withy local governments and companies in Thailand." <PowerKorea>
