National Food Cluster holds online export conference

The National Food Cluster (Foodpolis) held an online export conference on September 8 and invited 7 promising food companies having difficulty in finding overseas markets. They were RebalanceK, Narichan, Union Tech, 1kgcoffee, Midam, Happyfoodmall and Badaone. The cluster opened a baseline data of export companies, overseas market reports and a promising companies list to the 7 Korean companies and 13 buyers from 6 countries alongside running 26 meetings. The 13 buyers were mostly from the Philippines. The country recently has seen an increase in number of the middle class due to urbanization and the food market is relatively hot than other countries with abundant young labors equipped with have buying power. The buyers were from various field of the food industry from on/offline distributors to franchisers and goods suppliers. Apart from the Filipinos, a Malaysian buyer showed an interest in samkaetang (chicken soup) and a buyer who runs office in India and Dubai signed a $1 million deal with a Korean baby snack company. The conference created 5 billion won ($4.1 million) worth deals with on-site contract worth 1 billion won. Alongside the conference, the National Food Cluster held the National Food Cluster Festival from September 8 to 9. A total of 100 small and medium sized food companies and 32 related organizations and buyers participated in the festival. The total visitors were estimated around 35,000 and the page views around 1.5 million. The live e-commerce was linked with top e-commerce platforms including Coupang and Naver and it drew a total of 8,291 real time viewings. Joining hands with NS Homeshopping, 33 million won ($27,591) was raised and donated to underfed children. The contents of the festival can be viewed online at www.if-festival.or.kr  (PowerKorea)
