(PowerKorea) The Fourth Industrial Revolution is one of the most quoted on the media in South Korea. What is it really? Many have explained what it is about but you might feel to agree that it is about ‘intelligence revolution collaborated by human intelligence and robot intelligence’ after all. We call this intelligence ‘AI’ standing for Artificial Intelligence. So what it does then? It makes our life more convenient if we look at positive side.

Many countries are competitively driving forward their AI capability by pouring huge amount of money in R&D to take better seats in this profitable field. In South Korea, the government increased budget by 150% in 2020 on previous year and the Ministry of Science and ICT has added 7 sectors including data, crowd and AI to supplementary budget. Total amount of investment is estimated around 44.8 trillion won ($38.3 billion) until 2024.

Data processing aka data labeling is crucial to secure precision of AI. Some call this process as ‘attaching data eyes’ as it takes huge amount of time and labor. Deep Natural is a South Korean company specialized in this data processing.

To make one unit of AI, tens of thousands of data processing is needed. Whether it is an animal, a thing, a text or a meaning, every single detail is manually put into like workers in a doll factory attach an eye manually. The excellence of Deep Natural is that it developed its own AI machine running secretary program Friday which has increased data processing more efficient. It removes burden of manual examinations and saves time, effort and cost and creates more data in quality and quantity.

“Deep Natural works to bring high-finished results through its innovative auto labeling technologies. It is our goal to accelerate the development artificial intelligence so that more people can benefit from convenience provided by cutting edge AI technologies” says Sangwon Park, CEO of Deep Natural.

Park studied machine learning-based natural language processing at Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology and Berlin Institute of Technology. He has taken part in 77 data related projects of companies big and small including KB Financial Group and the National Information Society Agency.

Deep Natural has been designated for the data voucher project of the Korea Data Agency for 3 years in a row as a supplier. This year, the company also has joined as a seller to sell Deep Natural-YTN Korean Language Recognition Data. Recognizing its excellence, Bon Angels made 5 billion won ($428,449) investment in 2019 followed by additional 5 billion won through the TIPS last year. The company is expecting Series A investment at the moment and the 10 employees in 2019 have increased to 66 this year.

Meanwhile, Deep Natural released a crowd sourcing platform ‘Labeler’ for everybody to participate in data processing on PC and mobile. More than 120,000 people have participated in Labeler, created 7 million data and earned 2 billion won ($1.7 million).

“It will take time but who knows we will see J.A.R.V.I.S. (Just A Rather Very Intelligent System), the Tony Stark’s natural-language user interface computer system in the movie Iron Man. Our job for now is to lay the foundation and play an accelerator” says Park.
