(PowerKorea) Jiri Mountain is one of the most visited mountains in South Korea. There are many paths we can reach the mountain but starting from Hamyang County can be a good choice as we can pass through the beautiful roads like Jianjae and Odojae and a beautiful valley like Baekmudong. You might also want to stay overnight in a nearby Korean house to feel where Korean nobles lived in the past. If you are into it, Beolmoonsung Korean House, nestled on 134 Jirisanganun-gil, Macheon-myeon, Hamyang County, can be a good stay.

CEO Sangyoon Lee, who built the house, was born and grew up and married in Hamyang. His family went to Seoul in 1993 for their children’s education and a better life. The family ran a mart and lived in an apartment like most city dwellers did.

“I felt like there were only concrete houses in Seoul and we suffered from allergy. Despite the business rolled smoothly with daily sales sometimes over 25 million won ($21,602), we always want to live in a traditional Korean house. So we wrapped things up and went back to Hamyang 5 years ago and started building a Korean house” says Lee.

With the help of his daughter who is studying design at Syracuse University US, Lee laid the foundation and added pillars, walls, gates, doors and windows one by one with his own hands. Thus completed was Beolmoonsung Korean House.

The house looks the Cheongwangbong, the peak of the Jiri Mountain. The garden is 4,297 square meter big and the three story house has two of 72 square meter big rooms and seven of 36 square meter big rooms. The house also has a seminar room and barbeque area. Recognizing its traditional beauty and functionality, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism designated the house as a Korean house experience center.

The breakfast prepared from the house for guests is made with self-grown vegetables and soybean paste and some guests even buy the paste as it arouses the taste of their hometown. It is noteworthy that family pools and a camping site are also soon to be added.

A Korean house is a made of wood, clay and roof tile but nails are strictly not used. It has unique Korean beauty and layout of space so visitors can glimpse the charm of traditional Korean architecture.
