(PowerKorea) Kihwan Yang, CEO of Hamyang Jirisan Express has 40 years of experience in express bus. His top priority always has been safety first and for this reason Yang has held safety training for drivers twice a month without a fail for many years.

“More than 70% of passengers are elderly in the county so the drivers must drive safe and nice and also treat them with respect. The training held twice a month is a reminder of the drivers so that they concentrate on the importance of safe drive and kindness to passengers” says Yang.

Apart from safety and customer services training, Yang also makes it regular of repair work and the tires used at Hamyang Jirisan Express buses, in particular, are new tires only but not recapped tires when changed.

The reason Yang keeps thes strict safety rules was this: he worked as a section chief of Hamyang Transport (current Hamyang Jirisan Express). One day a bus had an accident that injured and killed passengers mostly guests of a wedding ceremony. The company went bankrupt, drivers and staff left. Being left alone, Yang took over the business and start working from 4am to escorting the last bus of the day. Gradually, his hard work started to receive payback during which he also widened business connections. As a result, the routes are not only restricted to the county but expanded to Seoul, Anyang and Bucheon. Buses run to Seoul 13 times a day and to Anyang and Bucheon twice a day.

The digital bus running recording system introduced in 2012 made the business smooth and the company has received numerous prizes relating to safety and services. The digital bus running recording system is installed in all buses of Hamyang Jirisan Express. The system is so through that it even records how many times the driver has pushed the accelerator and the break. This has improved the bad driving habit of drivers greatly and subsequently the safe drive. Taking a step further, Yang is working on introducing eco-friendly buses one by one in accordance with global measurers against climate change.

80 drivers are currently working for Hamyang Jirisan Express of which half of them have more than 10 years of experience. Yang says that since he took over the bankrupted company, he and his family have never had a family holiday trip.
