(PowerKorea) Mungyeong is a mountainous city located northwest of Gyeongsang Province. It faces Yecheon County to the east, Sangju to the south, Gosesan to the west and Jecheon to the north. Because of rich mountains, the region has big temperature difference. Many stories evolve around the region and thus many museums, parks and memorial sites greet you with wonder while you travel along. Mungyeong Saejae Provincial Park probably is the most famous. Mungyeong Saejae is a mountain pass in central of South Korea. It is the gate to and pro Yeongnam, Hoseo and Gyeongi. Saejae means a high hill that even birds can difficult to crossover and have to take a break. There is a saying ‘a loaf of bread is better than the song of many birds’. Mungyeong offers you two specialties: omija-based food and apple-based food since they are abundant and delicious. Omija in particular is very popular as the fruit in the region give the distinguished five tastes: sweet, sour, bitter, salty and spicy. Omija is known to help strengthen lungs, reduce blood pressure, increase immunity and remove discharge of phlegm. Around 40% of the whole output of the nation are cultivated in this region. Mungyeong apple, on the other hand, boasts richer sugar than that of other regions with average 16.5 brix.
