(PowerKorea) People complaining neck and shoulder pain are increasing due to the constant use of computers and smartphones. Pain is a signal our body sends as a process of protecting the body. When it is constant, however, it is categorized as a disease. In many cases, the cause of the pain is still hard to find even after monitoring with the MRI. Worse still, leaving the pain untreated for a long time can lead to a serious result such as what is commonly called the disc
. However, not all pain is hard to diagnose as technology advances. So the best option we can choose is to keep searching for the cause of the pain. Which must be done with professionals in the field.

Jo Pain Center is nestled in Jeonju Eco City and famous for running cutting edge treatment rooms and equipment: ultrasound room, operation room, treatment room, physical therapy room, hydrotherapy room, sling exerciser, extracorporeal shock wave therapy device, endoscopy device, high frequency treatment device, thermographer and laser camera.

Even more renowned than these cutting edge treatment rooms and equipment is director Daehyun Jo, a doctor with more than 30 years of expertise. Jo is especially famous for his non-surgery treatment methods such as epidural neuroplasty and endodontic treatment. His expertise in epidural neuroplasty has led him to give lectures worldwide including Ireland, South Africa, Ethiopia, Turkey, China, Japan, Malaysia, Thailand, Russia and Mongolia.

He served as the 20th president of the Korea Pain Society, a medical professor at The Catholic University of Korea School of Medicine and the director of The Catholic University of Korea Daejeon St. Mary’s Hospital. Also, he is the first Korean to be a Member of the Membership and Chapters Committee of the International Association of the Study of Pain (IASP).

“Thanks to the development of technology, non-surgery disc treatment has reduced the need to undergo surgery treatment by 90%. The full name of the disc is "herniated disc" which is a structure located between the vertebraes. When a disc is dislocated, it is called herniated disc. Understanding the pain properly helps better treatment and management. After the treatment, a proper posture and regular exercise come very important to keep it sound. It is advisable not to use a high pillow” says Jo.

Prolotherapy, aka proliferation therapy, is an injection-based treatment used in chronic musculoskeletal conditions, and it has been received as an alternative medical practice. Jo studied prolotherapy in the US and has practiced it for more than 20 years with high satisfaction rate from patients.

Jo is known among his colleagues as a hard worker and being highly devoted. During his professor years, he started the day in a dissecting room at 5am, left the room for his daily duty and came back to the room to carry on the study until midnight. When he learned that there was a master in the field of his interest, he traveled far and wide no matter how much time it took to meet and work together.

“I have worked as a doctor for more than 40 years of which 30 years as a pain specialist. I’m now planning to turn the lobby of my clinic as a space where doctors and scholars can have an academic meeting. And it is my great ambition to grow the clinic to be globally famous to treat patients from all over the world” says Jo.
