(PowerKorea) Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency announced to revise the enforcement rules of the KDCA and its affiliates to build a tighter quarantine system. The revision will change the quarantine from sunrise to sunset at harbors nationwide to on-arrival regardless the time of the day. Also included is evenly allocated quarantine implementation to centers nationwide as well as additional 53 manpower for 24/7 operation, reorganizations of divisions and names, and region by region quarantine stations operation. Quarantine centers in Busan, Incheon, Yeosu and Ulsan, for example, have been reorganized into a rotation of 4 teams in 2 shifts system. The revision secures efficiency of operation through organic communication between KDCA and quarantine centers and quarantine stations. KDCA Commissioner Jeong Eun-kyeong said the revised tighter quarantine system would effectively monitor possible inflow of virus at first hand through 24/7 operation.

KDCA holds workshop for acute cardiac arrest

KDCA in collaboration with National Fire Agency held a workshop to improve measures for acute cardiac arrest on May 28. According to 119, 30,782 people with acute cardiac arrest was called and carried to nearest hospital in 2019 and the survival rate was 8.7%. Attendees of the workshop included Seoul National University Hospital Emergency Medical Laboratory, KDCA, National Fire Agency and industry and academic specialists. KDCA has carried on acute cardiac arrest research since 2006 and made it into data that includes status, mechanical properties and recovery and survival rates. KDCA also revises and supplies CRP guideline every 5 years. National Fire Agency also has carried on development of cardiac arrest emergency equipment quality index since 2008 and is running 219 out of 1,497 paramedics nationwide as special paramedics to react fast.
