Hyundai backs up Hyundai Motor Club

(PowerKorea) Hyundai Motor signed an agreement to support Team HMC (Hyundai Motor Club), announced May 9. HMC is an amateur racing club organized by Hyundai car manias. The 7 members of the club include comedian Yang Sang-guk and one man creator Ahn Oh-jun. HMC is to participate in the 2021 Hyundai N Festival which will be held without audience due to the pandemic from May 8 to November 14 at the Korea International Circuit in Yeongam and at the Inje Speedium Circuit in a total of 8 rounds. Hyundai Motor is to supply for the team 1) driving suits 2) repair team 3) part of expenses. The company has engaged in various international racing events such as the World Rally Championship and the World Touring Car Cup alongside its own motor sports events. 

Hyundai releases Xcient Fuel Cell 2021

Hyundai Motor released its hydrogen electric truck Xcient Fuel Cell on May 25. Xcient is the world’s first mass produced hydrogen electric truck and a total of 46 trucks have been exported to Switzerland so far. Hyundai Motor CEO Jang Jae-hoon emphasizes Xcient is a result of 20 years of hydrogen fuel cell R&D and Hyundai Motor will bring forth a cleaner mobility environment to people. 

Xcient 2021 comes with new grill and chassis lineup. The front is straightforward, thick and V shape chrome decoration and the three dimensional messy pattern radiator creates eco-friendly yet strong images. The driver seat comes with airbag with choice of motor assist hydrulic steering and either 4x2 or 6x2 chassis. 

140 of 2021 Xcient are to be sent to Switzerland by the end of the year and the South Korean car giant is planning a total 1,600 units to be supplied to the country by the end of 2025. Meanwhile, promotional events are to be held in North America.
