(PowerKorea) Artist Im Jeong-sung’s solo exhibition is held from April 14 to May 13 at the Sahmyook University Museum under the theme ‘Nature, Into Nature’. The exhibition was organized to celebrate 115th anniversary of the university and it is the first invitation exhibition of the university this year. Im displayed around 200 works from small works to a 6 meter large work in this exhibition.

Im worked as a children’s art professor at the university from 1998 and served various roles including the dean of the School of Culture and Arts until his retirement in 2013.

The university chairman of the board Kang Soon-ki paid a visit to the exhibition with fellow professors and alumni on April 27 and said “I’m sure that the exhibition will give glimpse of Im’s spirit and the view of the world and it will be a valuable time for appreciators.”

Korea Laity Businessmen Association president Ahn Yong-ho said “In this time of the pandemic depression, I would like to say that Im’s works are messages like a bowl of cold water that quenches our thirst.”

Art critic Lee Gyeong-mo said “Going with the flow and vitality of nature are the two distinctive characteristics of Im’s works. His observation is focused on nature and its inside. We can see through his works that how much he loves nature and values the beauty in it.”

Starting from his first solo exhibition in 1966, Im has held or participated in around 250 exhibitions home and abroad. He made his presence in the art world as a street artist by drawing images on the walls of buildings in Cheongnyangni, Seoul, and of the prison in Uijeongbu City.

The profits generated from the exhibition will go to scholarship and alumni fund. Im is an honorary professor of the university and advisor of the Korea Arts Association and of the Korea Child Art Association.
