(PowerKorea) In 2019, South Korean government set up the Presidential Committee on the Fourth Industrial Revolution to push forward smart city project where information technology and big data are organically linked in a way to control the city efficiently. A smart city collects information for analysis and applies the result where it is necessary such as transport, energy and environment. Environment in particular is the hottest issue due to the frequent appearances of fine dust and yellow dust largely flowing into from China and Mongolia and imperceptibly created by domestic energy consumption.

Nowsystem is a South Korean company specialized in air quality control. The company’s ‘environment solution’ is attracting a great attention from the government and industry circles alike as the system analyzes air quality in real time, sends it to the server and let the control tower and people know.

The government-run fine dust detector uses ‘weight capture method’. It is precise in measurement but not precise in real time status. In other words, the fine dust index we are now seeing is the index a few hours before. This is where Nowsystem focused its R&D capability.

Nowsystem’s ‘light scattering laser method’ measures PM2.5 and PM10 concentration of find dust as well as temperature, humidity and carbon dioxide in the air. In addition, it costs less in installation and maintenance than the weight capture method. Behind this great achievement lies the company’s innovative ‘sensor technology’ and ‘IoT-based total network’ and it works this way: the sensor measures the air data – sends it to cloud server or local server – the central operation center monitors and controls and sends it to screens installed in the city in real time. Traffic lights, for example, can be used as the screen to show people the current the air quality.

“There are some similar sensor products on the market but Nowsystem has the sole sensor system where server, display and alarming are linked and worked together in real time. Its sensing performance has received the first grade mark from the Korea Environment Corporation” emphasizes Lee Jeong-han, CEO of Nowsystem.

Nowsystem’s smart environment sensor is installable both inside and outside of the building hassle-free as it comes with a small photovoltaic power generation where there is no electricity and optical fiber cable. It also is connected to LTE terminals to network. Thank to this down-to-earth solutions, the smart environment sensor loaded AirN and CareN are designated as a Public Procurement Service trial products and are being installed in many public buildings nationwide.

“We expect a high demand for our innovative AirN and CareN not only from public buildings but almost all sectors of industry like agricultural farms, factories, chemical complexes, research centers, military base and many more. With AirN and CareN in operation, public officers no longer need to check civil complaints about dust and smell as the sensor will let them know before the citizens even make complaints and take action first” says Lee.

Nowsystem first opened door as an information technology company in 2010. It has registered 4 to 5 patents every year ever since through passionate research and development by the teams of high motivation and hard work. Its ‘all-in-one manless broadcasting system’ is received as one of the best systems for HD video mixing and e-learning contents creation. The company received a ministerial citation from the Ministry of Science and ICT last year followed by the technique competence excellent enterprise certificate T3 this year.
