Sundae (Korea sausage) is one of the common between-meals in South Korea. There are many kinds of sundae and many brands. Squid sundae and abai sundae among them are most popular. Both are from Sokcho City, Gangwon Province. Talking of sundae from Sokcho, we cannot miss Very Good Food, the local sundae specialist that spread the fame of squid and abai sundae nationwide.

Many North Koreans made way down to Sokcho during the Korean War and they ate squid sundae mixed with northern style ingredients and southern style seafood. Abai sundae also originated from Hamgyong Province in the North. Around 5 million people visit Sundae Town in the city every year to have original northern style sundae and it has become the best local cuisine.

Very Good Food was formed in 2011 by market merchants and developed into a food company that manufactures and distributes 10 kinds of sundae including squid and abai. You might be wowed by the squid wrapping variety of ingredients inside and neatly sliced and layered on a plate. Or you might be impressed by fullness of abai sundae wrapped in transparent-thin pig intestines. Some dinners call them 'flower sundae' for they look like it when sliced.

Other sundae worth trying are duck, pollack and three-colored sundae. The three-colored sundae contains chlorella, turmeric and red yeast rice which are good for weakened immunity and menstrual irregularity.

All sundae lines at Very Good Food are strictly managed according to HACCP and conveniently packed and sold online. Having secured fame and safety control, Very Good Food is still experiencing lack of money flowing into the business due to a rapid decrease in squid catch in the East Sea and lukewarm support of local government.
