¡ã Trans-human and Neo-nomad Artist Ki Ok-ran

Famous for trans-human and neo-nomad, artist Ki Ok-ran is holding her 5th solo exhibition themed on her abstract photo works from June 1 to July 31 at Gyerim Art Gallery Gwangju. Themed on 'trans-human - light and human', the exhibition this time displays her abstract works made with multi-shooting method and it celebrates the 40th anniversary of May 18 Movement in remembrance of those who lost their lives.

If the 4th exhibition, held at Chonnam National University Dental Hospital Art Space Gallery, focused on three and four dimensional spaceness as well as the depth, the 5th exhibition adds her respect to the sacred month of May in South Korea.

Ki uses red symbolizing the bloodshed of the movement alongside contrast between black and white to express the queen of the year. Also visible in the works are elements of her trans-human and neo-nomad where expansion and extinction of the universe is expressed through colors, dots, lines and surfaces in balance of change, unification, contrast and symmetry.

"Fresh and creative!"
"Revolutionary!"
"Excellent composition!"
"Deeply touched!"

are some of the feedbacks of those who have appreciated her works already.

"I tried to embrace the spirit of the May in Gwangju. I also tried to express the spirit in my trans-human and neo-nomad themes where communication, empathy, healing and solace are organically connected in harmony. Trans-human and neo-nomad depicts reconciliation between man and man, man and nature, man and cities and man and objects" explains Ki.

Ki has held around 50 solo exhibitions and around 300 group and invitational exhibitions home and abroad including Japan, Germany, France and USA.
