Hoengseong County is 2 hour drive apart from Seoul toward east. It is famous for premium Korean beef and outdoor activities. Also popular for a cluster of best restaurants that sells local cuisines, the county greets flood of visitors every year throughout the year. Chungtaesan Recreational Forest in particular is well known for its sheer size with 15 meter high nut pines densely clustered and emits phytoncide. It is also a good idea to walk the deck road round the forest. Thanks to its calm beauty, a number of TV series were filmed here.

Onuri
Where to stay probably comes to mind as the first thing when in holiday season. If you happen to visit the county, however, Onuri holiday home might serve your need without much hassle of choosing a right one. It has an outdoor pool, barbecue, swing chairs and green grass garden all around the white-walled house. You might feel as if you are in a house you have seen in a TV series.

At night in clear weather, you can see millions of stars sparkling above your head. Inside the house, you will be greeted with calm ambience of traditional Korean house interior and props. If you are activity-driven, you can join a shooting or survival game taken place nearby. If you are a fishing enthusiast, go for it as there is a reservoir nearby also.

Social activities
Won is serving as the head of the Incheon Cheongna International City Culture Center Gangwon and Jeju. This non-profit organization promotes culture and art and music for young people and encourages them to engage in choir and orchestra activities. The center also held a number of concerts including GaLa Concert at the Kkottongnae of Jejus Foundation in Eumseong County, North Chungcheong Province, and the Handel’s Oratorios ‘Messiah’ last year.

Won has organized numerous other concerts at the Seoul Arts Center, Sejong Center for the Performing Arts, and Seogwipo Art Center while engaging in volunteer activities with the Chongshin University Moffett Coir, World Vision Children’s Choir and CBS Senior Silver Choir.

When asked about future plan, Won said “I’m working on creating a healing theme town where a variety of art and culture events will take place. I’m also working on organizing a family concert and singing class so that visitors to Onuri should go back to their normal life with healed heart and freshened mind.”
