Moon checks on tackling procedures of COVID-19

President Moon paid a visit to the National Medical Center and the Seongdong District Community Health Center to check on tackling procedures of COVID-19. Accompanied were the head of the safety and risk management of the Ministry of Interior and Safety Gyejo Kim, Seoul Mayor Wonsoon Park and Seongdong District Office governor Wonoh Jung. 

Moon said “It is the role of community health centers to prevent the spread in the region and to make residents feel safe. I think you are doing well and we are working on manpower support at the moment. It is important to strength national level quarantine but for now we need to focus on contain the virus. It is also important for the Ministry of Education, universities and local governments to continue the check-up and to do appropriate measures for Chinese students coming into South Korea.”

Moon holds a meeting to tackle COVID-19

Moon held a meeting with economic leaders at the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry on February 13 to tackle COVID-19 in terms of activation of economy. Moon emphasized that the plant and equipment investment had increased from the fourth quarter last year and so did the export volume from January this year alongside jobs. 

“However, the fast spread of COVID-19 has turned many things on hold. Luckily, the situation seems to be turning to the stable phase. So it is time for us the government and the economic circle to gather strength again to activate economy. The government will do its best to provide necessary support including finance and tax reduction or exemption.”

Moon meets consumer specialists

President Moon met consumer specialists at the Haengbok Department store in Yangcheon District, Seoul, on February 21. The attendees at the meeting asked Moon of support for finance, tax reduction, labor cost, quarantine as many businesses were hit by the severe slowdown of consumption due to COVID-19. 

Moon said “The government is pouring a great amount of effort in tackling the virus alongside providing necessary support. It is encouraging that more and more building owners are joining the Good Landlord Movement and the government also will do its part to end the spread of virus earliest possible.”
