Agriculture undoubtedly is the very basic industry of man. It is where the food we eat daily comes from. The difference is that the methods of agriculture have been changing through the years. Quite recently, agriculture sees drones flying and robots controlling; so called the age of smart farm.

Jeres Farm is a South Korean agriculture company established under the slogan ‘agricultural sentiment’ from which it makes technologies and systems that benefit farmers, consumers and companies alike. Headquartered in the Shinsung University Startup Support Center, Jeres Farm is running a shopping mall that sells agricultural equipment at the Seoul branch office in Seolleung, Gangnam District; it also established this March Jeres Bio to carry out researches on IT-driven water culture, raw materials, nutrient solutions, preventive medicinal materials and health supplementary food. A water culture device, a portable plant pot and an aquaponics are good examples of the research result.

Currently, Jeres Farm is pouring effort in its water culture project at Hansin Elementary School Seoul; it is a project in which children observe how plants grow through water culture; each pot is installed with a QR code so that children can link it to an app on their smart device to check growing procedure and more; an interview shows that it helped improve air quality and ambience of the school.

“We made characters and songs as well as video images so that they know better about the concept of smart farm. As part of this effort, we are working on building a smart farm original technology center on a 6,611 square meter land in Namyangju City. It is set to open this September and it will boost up water culture and nutrient solution alongside export solution” says Jeon.

“I and my team at Jeres Farm are not interested in being the No.1 in the field. What we pursue is that we make safe, eco-friendly and healthy food for all.”
