Located on the new town in Gimpo City, Maeen Ballet has been boasting excellent instructors and down-to-earth curriculum based on which it has fostered talented future ballet dancers in Korea. The world ‘maeen’ means ‘spring water gushing out from underground’ in Arabic. The class is designed for infant, elementary, adult, examination and talented. A quarterly lesson plan is brought up alongside individual appraisal result to maximize effectiveness and an open class is taken place once a year, invitational lectures twice a year, and a regular performance once a year. The floor is installed with elastic gums to absorb the impact of the footings to protect the joints and the 297 square meter space boasts one of the best ballet facilities in Korea.
Apart from excellence in teaching ballet, the director Yoo Song-ok is a woman of a kind heart. She has engaged in volunteer activities home and abroad since in her 20s and is donating 10% of the whole profits generated from the academy to help children in need especially the refugees in the Arab world alongside paying a visit twice a year to give special lectures.
“It is appalling to know that 68.50 million refusees in the world have been wandering around here and there to survive since 2017 of which 5.6 million are Syrians with half of them children” says Yoo.
In recognition of contribution to the industry and of helping people in need, Maeen Ballet received the 2019 Korea Value Management Awards held in March by Herald Cooperation and managed by monthly Power Korea.
