Powered by Herald Group and monthly <Power Korea>, the 2019 Brilliant People & Brand Awards was held at the Seoul Press Center on February 2. The total of 50 winners went through strict screening and proved to be creating a hit in the year 2019 in each field of their concern. The screening opened for 2 months from December 13 last year to January 30 this year based on documentation, and interviews if necessary. 50 companies, organizations and brands won the awards and numerous winners came from small and medium businesses. 

The Herald Group CEO Kwon Chung-won congratulated the winners in his opening remarks and the head of the judge Prof. Kim Mo-ran encouraged the winners by saying “Korea will push its way through thanks to your hard work”. 

Congratulatory performances were made by zither player Prof. Park Ji-yoon, soprano Kim Hyun-jung and baritone Yang Tae-gop. Park is serving as professor at Catholic University of Korea and Hanyang University and has held 20 solo and invitational performances home and abroad. Yang has played major roles in The Magic Flute, L’elisir d’amore, Don Giovanni, Gianni Schicchi, The Tales of Hoffmann, The Marriage of Figaro and La boheme, and is serving as the conductor, music director and CEO of T.G.Y Arts Company. Kim studied at Graduate School of Musik Akademie Der Stadt Kassel, Germany and founded Gyeonggi Opera Company back in Korea. 

Seoul Gwangjin District mayor Kim Seon-gap and Incheon Jung District mayor Hong In-sung took the stage in order to give closing remarks. Some of the notable winners including the two districts are Seoul Yongsan District, Starbucks Korea, Dongwon F&B, Korean Folk Village, Lotte World, Hotseasoner famous for ‘Dongdaemun Yupki tteok-bokki, ID Construction, DY Mulsan, finance advisor Seo Jun-hyeok and conductor Jung Seung-yong.
