Q. You are serving as the chairman for 3 times in a row.
A. I would like to thank all citizens of Guri first for their unsparing support. I feel heavy and responsible and I take the support as a sign for me to do more for communications and harmony of the citizens. I also thank the 6 fellow members of the council who are working hard day and night. We will listen more to the citizens, reflect their opinions in policies, focus on field-centered administration and build an efficient and productive council. 

Q. The council’s slogan is ‘communication, harmony and serving’.
A. The slogan is our commitment to creating a better and happier Guri where 200,000 citizens live in communications and harmony. As for the year 2019, I would like to emphasize ‘walking together’. It means that we work together regardless party, department and division. I believe we can achieve something great if we work together in one mind. So I and the other 6 members of the council will do our very best to implement the details of ‘communication, harmony and serving’. For this, we have brought three action plans. Firstly, listen and reflect, secondly, cooperation and support, and thirdly serving the citizens with all our heart. There’s saying “Action speaks louder than words”. And this is what we are going to do.

Q. The council often fell into troubles with the executive branch.
A. The council and the executive branch are like a wheel. So the wheel cannot roll if one of the two parts gets broken. And the citizens are the ones who get the damages most as a result. But without citizens, there will be neither council nor executive branch. Therefore, we must work together to listen and reflect the voice of the citizens. So I can say that ‘check’ and ‘cooperation’ will be the keywords to settle the issue down. 

Q. What is the biggest problem at the moment?
A. There is a number of problems we have to work on first: GWDC, techno valley and traffic gem. Transparency is important for GWDC. We will case study for the techno valley project and find detours to solve traffic gem. 

Q. How do you evaluate the activities of the council so far?
A. Majority of the 8th council members are newly-elected. But I would like to praise highly of them for their hard work to successfully hold the regular meetings twice despite their tight schedule on budget and fiscal review and administrative audit. As for the year 2019, we will upgrade our capabilities through training, legislative activity and policy development. 

Q. Any comment for the citizens?
A. We will exert to create a better and happier Guri and we would like to ask the citizens a continuous support. Like I mentioned before, we will prove this by action but not by words. There is a saying that “The dream of one could be a dream but the dream of us can be a real.”We, the 7 council members, will work closely together regardless our parties in cooperation with the mayor Ahn Seung-nam and 700 staff.
