¡ã Koo Bon-young, Mayor of Cheonan City

Cheonan City is the gateway to the capital and the western part of South Chungcheong Province. It is a hub of trail ways and expressways where trains and buses constantly transport people and goods to and from the capital region.

Cheonan City mayor Koo Bon-young made his goal clear when he took the office in 2014: 1) citizen-centered 2) warm and welcoming city 3) well-to-do city 4) future-oriented city.

He has made a trip to the National Assembly regularly to secure government budget while paid visit to underprivileged citizens as well as the farm houses damaged by the recent unprecedented hot weather. He also rolled up his sleeve to water the drying reservoirs in the region.

The city currently is supporting 118 sprinkler trucks, 10 mountain fire engines, 10 dung trucks and 10 transit-mixer trucks for 139 farm houses.

He also made a visit to Turkey to meet and encourage the Korean War veterans on July 25th. He showed respect and gratitude to them and gave a big bow. A couple of local newspapers reported the visit.

Koo then visited a cinema to watch <Ayla: The Daughter of War>, a film themed on the Korean War, and attended the opening ceremony of a cultural festival to give a congratulatory speech in his capacity as the mayor of Cheonan City and as the president of the Federation of International Dance Festival.

He said in his speech "I hope the festival will go global and Cheonan City will do its best to make social, cultural and economic exchanges with the festival host city."

Meanwhile, Koo appointed 20 people for the overseas online promotion corps to promote the Cheonan World Dance Festival and other local festivals to the world.
