¡ã Ran Kim, Curator of Gallery Ran

Gallery Ran is located around Jangyu Fall in Gimhae City. Curator Kim opened Gallery Ran to promote local artists who are relatively underprivileged when compared to artists in the capital region in terms of number of exhibitions they have.

"I myself am an artist and I have seen and observed how many artists are deprived of their opportunities for exhibitions on lack of connections whether it is academic, regional or number of winning the prizes. In that respect, Gallery Ran is open to everybody who loves art and who has a will for communication and friendship" explains Kim.

What is marvelous about the gallery apart from its purpose is its location. A thick forest and a waterfall are right near the gallery and you might feel like you are not in a gallery but somewhere in the middle of the forest. Thanks to this fantastic scenery, many local artists in South Gyeongsang Province have already had an exhibition or two at Gallery Ran.

Walking a single path as an artist for the last 10 years, it was only last year that Kim held her first solo exhibition at the Gimhae Arts and Sports Center. 30 of her works themed on four seasons titled 'Into the Time' and still life titled 'Shy Confession' drew a great attention from the appreciators; and the great attention in fact was the driving force for her to open her own gallery. She says "How hard it was to hold my first solo exhibition as a local artist".

When asked about future plan, Kim said "I'd like to engage more in various exhibitions big or small first of all. Secondly, I would like to create an art village and take the leading role to promote regional art and artists. Thirdly, I would like to open my own gallery in a remote area overseas one day."

Kim is a member of the Korean Fine Arts Association and its Gimhae branch as well as of the Environment Art Organization.
