The sooner the better!
The Nordic countries are famous for effective welfare systems. For example, they run various job training programs for retirees so that they can work and earn their living and lead an independent life. The retirees in Korea on the other hand tend to depend on pension which certainly is not enough and many of them are having financial difficulty. “You should carefully plan your life after retirement while you are still young. Retirement doesn’t necessarily mean you don’t work anymore. In fact, you can retire now if you are ready. I advise you to plan something worthy that makes your life happy and satisfied” says Kim Jin-hyung, Director of Retirement Coaching Center. Kim has observed people in their 20s and 30s voluntarily retire due to the financial hardships of their companies. She felt something must be done and so she rolled up her sleeve to give down-to-earth guide on life after retirement. Her book <Retirement Plan of 10th Year Office Worker> released in 2016 contains her knowhow, experience and helpful tips on retirement and reemployment.

Invest in yourself!
“Find what you wish to do in the future, what your aptitude is, and what might generate a steady income” advises Kim. She points out everybody has different needs and wants in their own situations. So we should customize our plans according to our needs with finance in particular. But securing a steady flow of income requires a long time preparation and patience. “That’s why you need to start now and try to invest time and effort in yourself no matter how busy you think you are. You should build your confidence that you can find any job and anything after retirement. It is also a good idea to start your own business preferably the one you have longed to do it for a long time. My job as a retirement consultant is to help you build this confidence.”
