Moon briefs the results to the media
President Moon and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un met again at Panmunjom on May 26. Moon was greeted by Kim Yo-jong to be led to Kim Jong-un and both leaders were accompanied by Suh Hoon, the chief of the South Korean National Intelligence Service and Kim Yong-chul, the vice-chairman of the North Korean Central Committee of the Workers Party. The meeting lasted about two hours and Moon briefed to the media the next day on 10 am what went between them. “I’ve emphasized regular meeting between the two parties for a long time and this of my will has been clearly stated on the April 27 Panmunjom Declaration. In that respect, I’d like to give a special meaning to this second meeting” said Moon. He continued “I explained to Kim the results of the meeting with Trump last week that Trump has a firm will to end the hostile relations and to support economically if Kim is determined of denuclearization. I also pointed out the need of sufficient preliminary dialogues between the two parties before the summit and Kim agreed at this. I can say that Kim made himself clear of his firm will of denuclearization and of ending the conflicts for peace and prosperity. So, Kim and I agreed to closely cooperate for successful North Korea-US Summit on June 12 and for permanent peace in the Korean Peninsula. As part of this effort, we agreed to hold a high official meeting on June 1 followed up by the Red Cross to arrange a meeting for separated families. Above all, we agreed to meet on a regular basis without formality.”

Moon answers to reporters
At the Q&A followed after the briefing, Moon answered to the questions of reporters. “The second meeting was held without formality since I thought it necessary to talk directly between the leaders in order to rapidly process the agreed contents of the April 27 Panmunjom Declaration. So, I apologize not to inform you about the second meeting beforehand. I say again that Kim is determined of denuclearization but what actually worries him is the certainty of the US promise to guarantee the regime. So, I affirmed him with Trump’s firm will to not only end the hostility but also to help prosperity of the North. I expect the summit will be a success. I now tell you why I did not brief the results of the second summit between me and Kim not right after the summit; this is because Kim asked me to do it today since he can do it in the same time line.”
