Sick house syndrome is a situation in which the occupants of a new building experience health-related effects due to probably the chemicals used in the materials such as formaldehyde, xylene and benzene. They are known to cause dry eye, allergic rhinitis, dermatitis and headache. The government has brought a tougher regulation on using the volatile organic compounds that emit chemical substances but many contractors are reportedly using cheap materials to save the cost. Realizing the seriousness of the problem, the air quality service provider ‘KLAIR’ introduced a virus sterilizer/sanitizer called ‘KLAIR Clean’ that has 80 times more sterilizing power than the similar products on the market. It is made of harmless food additives and it can protect our body from various infectious diseases including MERS according to Yoon. KLAIR Clean gradually turns into water after using without affecting the environment and for this reason it is used for pesticide-free produce. Its high level of safety also convinced a large Japanese food manufacturer to use KLAIR Clean for sterilizing the production lines. Yoon says that many public institutions, hospitals, postnatal care centers, hotels and sanatoriums as well as THE BORN KOREA are using KLAIR Clean at the moment. “Maintaining the air clean is very important. KLAIR manages the work performance of KLAIR Clean 12 times a year to make sure that the clean air is always kept.” The products of KLAIR are approved by KAIST and the company received the 2006 Korea Construction Awards in the category of eco-friendly technique. It is noteworthy that the pet care lines of KLAIR especially are popular among pet lovers as they are made with vegetable extracts. More products lines of KLAIR can be found at http://www.klair.kr/
