¡ã Lee Hyun-young, CEO of Bien Edu Consulting

Bien Edu Consulting is an education company that specializes in minimizing conflicts between colleagues at workplace. CEO Lee Hyun-young says “There is no remedy for all conflicts in the world. If there is, we don’t need to worry about it. Conflicts happen constantly so it is better say ‘managing’ the conflicts rather than ‘solving’ them. And the managing starts at accepting the difference.” Lee continues “People back in the day had a sense of ‘community’ and ‘we’ for which they sacrificed their own interest. But people today especially the office workers tent to think the other way round. The conflicts between these conceptual clash in the past and present seem to have developed into the conflicts between generations. What they need at this point I think is approaching the matters with ‘rational decision’ rather than ‘emotional objection’.” And the role of Lee is to bring up the cause and management solutions that are both agreeable between the two conflict parties. Lee happened to be an in-house lecturer of a large company during which she learned the need for down-to-earth training customized to each case. As successful a consultant today in the field, she is not complacent but currently is taking a doctor’s course in education at Konkuk University in order to deepen her knowledge while working on another book followed by her first e-book <To You Who Are in Trouble Again Today>. “I would like to point out the importance of ‘self-leadership’. It helps you set up a goal and direction of your life and manage it autonomously. I think it is a must-needed ability for most of us living today. Self-leadership starts from motivating yourself through the positive mind on your work, role, goal and balanced life pattern.” When asked what it takes to be a good education consultant, Lee said “The ability to minimize the conflicts on which to maximize the results of the group. Beneficial educational contents and down-to-earth communication also are the good values.”
