“An iron hand in a velvet glove”
Woo Jeong-kook, Master Instructor of Kukje Taekwondo

Located in Dong-eup, Changwon City, Kukje Taekwondo is famous for effectively teaching the Korean martial art alongside personality development for all ages and sexes. “Taekwondo doesn’t necessarily be harsh and solemn but it can be a lot of fun. The programs at Kukje Taekwondo are designed based on this with the broad goal to promote the learner’s physical and mental strength as well as socially agreeable personality” said Woo Jeong-kook, Master Instructor of Kukje Taekwondo. According to a report, young Koreans today are taller than before but the balance of the body and physical strength seem relatively weak. Some of the reasons might be instant food, constant use of smartphone and scarce outdoor activities. Woo knows this very well and added elements into the programs that can help to keep the physical balance. “The effect of taekwondo for children who are in the process of physical and mental development can be great. They can grow their physical strength while train their spirit and manners needed in their social life.” In other words, Woo is teaching the children under the motto ‘An iron hand in a velvet glove’. “It simply means that you should consider others, help people in need and overcome the hardship with the strong spirit. My role as a taekwondo master is to guide them both physically and mentally to achieve it.”
