문재인 대통령, 정당 대표 초청 대화
문재인 대통령은 지난 7일 5당 대표와 청와대 본관 인왕실에서 오찬 회동을 가졌다. 추미애 더불어민주당 대표, 홍준표 자유한국당 대표, 유승민 바른미래당 대표, 조배숙 민주평화당 대표, 이정미 정의당 대표 5당 대표가 모두 참석했다. 또한 정의용 안보실장도 함께 참석해 정당 대표들에게 직접 방북 결과와 앞으로의 후속 조치에 대한 추진 등을 설명했다.
문재인 대통령은 “이렇게 다 함께 모인 게 처음인 것 같습니다. 국회나 당에 복잡한 사정이 있을 수 있고, 또 당 내에서 반대가 있을 수 있는 데도 이렇게 초청에 응해 주셔서 감사드립니다.”라고 말했다. 이어 문재인 대통령은 “한반도 평화와 비핵화에 있어서 아주 중요한 고비를 맞이한 것 같습니다. 이 기회를 어떻게 살려 나가면 좋을지 우리 대표님들께서 고견들 많이 말씀들 해 주시고, 지혜도 모아주시기 바랍니다.”라며 여야의 협력을 당부했다.

UAE 방문 둘째 날, 동포간담회 개최
문재인 대통령은 UAE 방문 둘째 날인 지난 26일 UAE에 진출해 활약 중인 청년 취업자, 소상공인, 기업인, 원전 근로자, 의료인 등 재외동포 130여명을 초청해 동포간담회를 개최했다.
이 자리에는 권휘 UAE 한인회장, 김현중 민주평통 중동협의회 수석부회장, 성명훈 칼리파 왕립병원 원장, 박형문 샤르자 왕실 경호원, 김혜성 에어아라비아 부기장, 박종우 에미리츠 클럽 축구선수, 박채경 호텔리어, 서나경 석유대학원 대학원생 등 한국과 UAE를 잇기 위해 다방면에서 활동하고 있는 동포들이 함께 했다.
과거 1970년대에는 우리의 건설 근로자들이 진출해 인프라 구축을 위해 땀을 흘렸던 중동 지역에 이제는 첨단기술, 의료, 문화, 학문 등 다양한 분야에서 인적, 물적 교류가 증가되고 있다. 대통령은 70년대 중동 파견 근로자들의 열정과 도전정신을 언급하며 한국인으로서 자부심을 갖고 살아가는 동포들의 노고에 감사의 뜻을 전했다. 또한, 동포사회가 단합해 양국 관계 증진을 위해 앞으로도 많은 역할과 기여를 해줄 것을 당부했다.
문재인 대통령은 이번 방문을 통해 양국 관계가 ‘특별 전략적 동반자 관계’로 격상된 점을 평가하며, 에너지, 건설·플랜트 등 전통적인 협력 분야를 넘어 지식재산, 과학기술·ICT 등 4차 산업혁명 시대를 선도해 나가기 위한 양국의 협력 확대를 위해 우리 동포 및 진출기업들의 지속적인 관심을 당부했다.
또한 문 대통령은 현지에 진출한 우리 기업과 소상공인의 애로사항을 해소하기 위한 다각적인 노력을 펼쳐나가겠다고 약속했다. 또한, ‘국민과 함께하는 외교’를 실현하기 위해 동포들의 안전과 권익을 지키고 충분한 영사 조력을 받을 수 있도록 노력하겠다고도 강조했다.

Moon invites leaders of the parties 
President Moon invited the leaders of the political parties to the Blue House on 7th last month. All five leaders (Chu Mi-ae, Hong Jun-pyo, Yoo Seong-min, Cho Bae-sook and Lee Jeong-mi: the Democratic, Korea, Bareun Future, Democracy & Peace and Justice in order) gathered together on the day. Moon said “I guess it is the first time we all gathered together in one place and I would like to show my gratitude to you all. Korea is facing a critical moment regarding the peace and denuclearization at the moment. I would like to hear how we can sail through this opportunity from you today.” Chung Eui-yong, Director of the National Security Office, also attended the gathering and briefed on the result of the recent visit to the North. 

Moon meets Koreans living in the UAE
On the second day of his visit to the UAE on 26 last month, President Moon invited 130 Koreans from businessmen to workers and medical men to a meeting he organized. Back in the 70s, many Korean workers flew to the Middle East to earn foreign money through construction works. Today, Korea and the UAE are exchanging in many areas such as high tech, medicine, culture and literature. Moon mentioned about the Koreans who worked hard in this foreign land in the past and showed his gratitude to them. He then asked the invited to work together to promote the cooperation between the two countries. Moon valued highly of the ‘Special Strategic Partnership’ between the two countries and asked to give a continuous interest and support to the cooperation in many areas from energy, construction and plant to intellectual properties, science and ICT. Moon added that the Korean government would do its best to protect the rights and safety of the Koreans living in the UAE and to give diversified support for the business and diplomacy.
