Hong has many titles that can fill up an A4. Most notably, he is Vice President of Senior Venture Association and CEO of Next BNC. His role as vice president is to create jobs for senior manpower aged above 40 and to build bridge between senior and young generations. His role as CEO is to provide marketing and distribution strategy consulting for SMEs. Hong predicts that we will have entered the age of the 4th Industrial Revolution around 2020 and the people in their 40s will play the role like mid-fielders in football match. To carry out the role effectively, Hong encourages a self-development in connection with AI and communications skill. In his book ’40 Changes the Mold’, Hong suggests directions for seniors. He sees the age 40 as the time to look back one’s life and re-plan one’s goal by reflecting the needs of the times. Hong quit his job in major company at 40 and wrote the book. He says that 40s in Korea seem to have lost themselves but just carry their life for their family or the organization they belong. Emotionally, they lead a life in uncertainty. The only escape, Hong says, is ‘self-development’. “40 is the last golden time to overcome oneself” wrote Hong in the book. Now is the right time where you feel that you lack in something. We are living in the age of homo-one hundred and twenty. You must build your own strategy for a long war like a climber checks up his equipment for the last time right before launching to conquer the Everest from the basecamp.
