Jeollabukdo launches Jeollado Visit Year 2018 and Electric Electronics Convergence Conference

South Jeolla Province and Gwangju City held an event to promote ‘Jeollado Visit Year 2018’ at The Plaza Hotel Seoul. 500 people including government and industry officials, lawmakers and local residents attended the event. Jeollado Visit Year 2018 is meaningful as the province marks the 1,000 year anniversary of its persistence next year and the yearlong events will be held under the theme ‘Thousand Years Road, Thousand Years Light’. Making the most of the year, the province and the city are ambitious to turn its historical, cultural and natural resources to tourist products in a way to lay a new foundation for another one thousand years. For this, 100 tourist hotspots will be designated and various cultural and art programs will also be introduced in the 9 sectors including a brand new festival called ‘Jeolla Art & Busking Festival’. For the convenient movement of the visitors, Jeonbuk Tour Pass and Jeonnam Tour Pass are offered in discounts. An official of the Honam Tourism Promotion Agency said “Jeolla Province has been the center of economy and culture in North East Asia for a thousand years and was the driving force of saving the country when the Japanese invaded the Korean Peninsula in 1592. Also, unique local cuisine alongside pansori (Korean opera) and masterpieces of Korean painting cannot be missed to mention. We will do our best to give strong impression to visitors next year.” Meanwhile, Jeollabukdo and the Jeonbuk Institute of Automobile Convergence Technology held the ‘Electric Electronics Convergence Conference’ on 17 last month. The conference was designed to promote convergence between the electric/electronics industries and the car parts industry with a goal to create new future business models. 30 organizations relating to car parts as well as regional industry-university cooperation attended the conference. LS Automotive, the No.1 in the switch and relay parts, presented its case studies on product development, business launching and effective cooperation. Lee Hang-gu, a senior researcher of the Korea Institute for Industrial Economics & Trade, also gave a presentation on ‘Basic Plans for Building Manless Vehicle Advanced Base’. Governor Song Ha-jin said “The electric and electronics sectors are a must for smart and eco-friendly cars in the coming age. The convergence between the two sectors therefore is very important and the province will keep providing unsparing support for the conference to gather the strength and to promote new future business models.”
