순천 지역 최상위 의료서비스 제공
전남 순천은 주변의 여수, 광양을 포함해 약 100만 명의 인구수를 자랑한다. 그러나 삶의 질을 높이는 여러 항목들 가운데 전문적인 의료서비스의 제공 면에서는 타 지역에 비해 다소 부족한 것이 현실이다.   
지난 2013년 4월 순천시 조례동에 개원한 드림외과는 풍부한 임상 경험과 정밀한 진단을 바탕으로 더 나은 진료, 최고 수준의 의료기술을 펼치며 순천 시민들에게 수준 높은 의료 환경을 제공하는데 앞장서고 있다. 개원이후로 치질등의 각종 항문질환 수술(1,100례 돌파)과 다리에 구불한 지렁이처럼 보이는 하지정맥류 수술(300례 돌파)을 시행하고 있으며, 충수염, 담낭, 탈장등의 복강경 수술(300례 돌파)을 시행하고 있고, 피부나 피하층에 발생하는 각종 혹(양성종양)들의 수술들(1,400례 돌파)을 시행하고 있습니다. 하지정맥류의 경우는 일반적인 수술, 레이저 치료, 경화 요법 등 다양한 방법을 동원해 질환의 정도에 따라 맞춤형 치료를 통한 전문성을 강화하고 있다. 일반적인 의원급 병원에서 시행하기 힘든 복강경 수술의 경우 양성훈 대표원장의 15년이 넘는 성공적인 임상 경험을 증명하듯 맹장, 탈장, 담낭 등 폭넓은 수술 영역을 다루고 있다. 특히 개복수술과는 다르게 복부에 0.5~1.5㎝ 크기의 작은 구멍(절개창)을 통한 최소 침습 수술 기법은 난이도가 상당한 것으로 알려져 있다. 이에 양성훈 대표원장은 “최신 수술 기법과 의료 장비의 도입은 환자의 부담을 덜고 빠른 회복과 재발 위험을 낮추기 위함이며, 무엇보다 환자들이 하루라도 빨리 일상으로 복귀하는데 도움이 될 수 있기를 바라기 때문입니다”라고 답했다.          

근본적인 치료를 통한 삶의 질 향상 
평소 양성훈 대표원장은 “의사는 질병의 치료와 동시에 예방의 의무를 다해야 한다고 생각합니다”라고 강조하고 있다. 질병의 근본적인 원인을 찾아 신체의 생리적 균형을 이루게 하는 것은 건강한 삶을 위한 필수 요건 중 하나이다. 그는 의사로서 증상의 억제에만 치우치지 않고 과학적 근거에 의거한 정확한 진단과 최신의 의료 연구결과를 적용, 나아가서는 만성질환, 난치병, 유전적/환경적 요소로 인해 발생할 수 있는 다양한 질병에 이르기까지 치료 효과의 극대화를 목표로 하고 있다.
이를 위해 드림외과는 ‘뉴영클리닉’을 부설로 운영 중에 있으며, 미국 등 의료선진국에서 선풍적인 인기와 각광을 받고 있는 21세기 의학의 새로운 패러다임인 ‘기능의학’을 중심으로 상담 및 진료를 병행하고 있다. 양 원장은 “기능의학을 통해 질병의 근본적인 원인을 치료하는 접근 방식은 곧 질병의 예방과 재발의 위험을 최소화할 수 있는 효과적인 근거로 작용될 수 있습니다”라고 답했다.
끝으로 양성훈 대표원장은 의사로서 외과 분야 이외에도 비만, 당뇨, 아토피 등 현대인들에게 자주 발생하는 질병에 대한 심각성과 이를 예방할 수 있는 방법을 알려야 한다는 의무를 다함과 동시에 더욱 향상된 의료 환경을 구축해 순천 시민들의 건강한 삶을 영위할 수 있도록 최선의 노력을 다할 것이라고 전했다.   

Bringing innovation to local medical services

Considering the 1 million populations around the Suncheon, Yeosu and Gwangyang regions, the level of local medical services still needs improvement when compared to other regions with the similar scale. Recognizing the lack of medical facilities and in an answer to the demand of the local residents, Dream Surgery opened its door in Jorye-dong, Suncheon and started to provide advanced medical services from April 2013. Today, the surgery has grown to be famous for treating colon and anus related diseases including hemorrhoids as well as varicose vein and celoscope. The surgery introduced PPH (Postpartum Haemorrhage) for the first time in the region which reduced the pain and the recovery significantly faster than the traditional methods. For curing the varicose vein, the surgery applies various treatment methods available while director Yang himself uses his more than 10 years of experience to give the best result to celoscope surgery for appendix, hernia and gall bladder. “Dream Surgery boasts cutting edge medical equipment and we are doing our very best to give most effective treatment with better and faster recovery results.” said Yang. He also emphasized on finding the root cause rather than the treatment based on scientific diagnosis and professional clinical experience. To maximize the best treatment result, Dream Surgery is running ‘New Young Clinic’ as an affiliate and it provides advanced medical services built on ‘functional medicine’, a new medical paradigm widely practiced in many advanced countries. “The ‘functional medicine’ is very effective in finding and curing the root cause of the disease and patients can minimize reoccurring of the disease through preventive methods” added Yang. Meanwhile, director Yang is working hard on brining effective treatment methods to patients with obesity, diabetes and atopy alongside its specialized areas.
