Backing up social enterprises and small businesses with professional knowledge in tax accounting
Choi Huiway-yong, CEO of Hangil Tax Accounting Service

Nobody will disagree on the importance of tax accounting when running a business as it directly affects the management, and even the survival, of a company. Hiring professional tax accountants seems not a problem at all for large companies but many social enterprises find it hard to afford even one account due to its far smaller size of the business than the giant competitors. Understanding the harsh environment facing them, Hangil Tax Accounting Service rolled up its sleeve to have offered a helping hand to social enterprises, village enterprises, cooperatives, and self-support enterprises as well as individuals since 2010. The service is not absolutely free but only at the minimum fee. “According to the data, the number of the social enterprises registered to Gwangju City is 136 including the soon-to-be as of 2016 and the number rises to about 800~900 when added village enterprises, cooperatives and self-supported. But most of them have less than 10 employees and are in need of great deal of help” said Choi Huiway-yong, CEO of Hangil Tax Accounting Service. Choi once ran a social enterprise and knows well how hard it is. He thinks that the role of social enterprises and small businesses are very important to stabilize national economy and he is determined to provide professional help as long as he can. In fact, it is not surprising to know that Choi once served as the head of the Participatory Politics 21 and engaged in activities of various social organizations and also gave lecturers at Kwangju Women’s University. “It is not easy for individuals to fight against the government on the issue weather it is about tax or others. This is the point where I think I should help the vulnerable side.” Choi added “Listening carefully to what citizens want and reflecting their opinions in the policies are very important not only for politicians but also specialists of each field. And I hope Hangil Tax Accounting Service will take a great part in making a better society and nation.”
